Interstate Brands Inc., the maker of Hostess treats, has issued a recall for Hostess Mini Pound Cakes. The recalled product was mislabeled and may contain carrot cakes instead. The carrot cakes contain walnuts which may pose an allergy hazard to those allergic to nuts. The recall is limited to a certain product code.

The code date of May 28 53 122 is printed on the center of the package just above the Hostess® Mini Pound Cake name and logo. Hostess(R) Carrot Cake can be identified through the clear film packaging by its white cream cheese icing. Hostess® Mini Pound Cake does not have icing.

Consumers that purchased the May 28 53 122 code date of Hostess® Mini Pound Cake may return the product to the store where purchased for a full refund. Consumers with questions about the recall should call 1-800-483-7253.

A customer in Michigan had an allergic reaction to the cake and alerted the company. The recalled product was sold in many states and may also be found in vending machines.
